Abstract

Generally known thing, that the microstrip line structure is the best line for high frequency circuits, is questionable viewing from electromagnetic field distribution. The hypothesis of the above question was set up and answered by experimental basis for this study. Test vehicles consisting of a special arrangement of test boards each mounted with high speed CMOS drivers were prepared for validation of high speed bus models; microstriplines, a coplanar line and a stand-alone line. Actual wave delay and induced voltage by proving coil inductor were measured and compared with them. The coplanar bus line was superior to even the microstriplines with ground and power plane at frequencies in the range of one to two hundred MHz. It has been concluded that the most important feature for circuits
