Abstract

A model which simulates emergency water supply and restoration of damaged facilities after the occurance of an earthquake was developed. The presented simulation model can generally consider the characteristics of the water supply system structure and various earthquake resistant measures. The way in which water was supplied in the emergency was also taken into consideration, be it through taps, fire hydrants or human distribution. The satisfaction indexes for water supply were defined. Using the simulation model, the effects of earthquake resistant measures for water supply systems whose bases are widely spread on many levels, including structual strength and support agreements, were evaluated.
