Abstract

Dynamic shape factors for regular shaped agglomerates, such as rectangular parallelepiped, V-and W-shapes, and others, have been calculated from their measured terminal settling velocities in the Stokes regime. Experimental results have been analyzed by using a new correlation based on a two-sphere hydrodynamic resistance presented in a previous work. The estimated and experimental dynamic shape factors are in good agreement, with deviation smaller than 5%. The correlation enables-estimation of the dynamic shape factor of a doublesized symmetrical agglomerate from its components, and also in a direction with an unstable settling orientation
