Abstract

The emission spectra of the Eu3+ ion in Gd2O2S were measured in the pressure range of 0∼15 GPa. The experiments show that the crystal-field splittings of the 7F2-5 and 5D2 increase obviously with pressurization. The crystal-field parameters Bkq and the crystal-field strength parameter S were determined at different pressures. The Slater parameter F2 and the spin-orbit coupling parameter ζ reduce with increasing pressure. The symmetry-restricted covalency mechanism acts a main part in the reductions of F2 and ζ.
