Abstract
NMR spectra of simple alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, and 2-methyl-2-propanol were measured at pressures of 7. 3 to 9. 8 MPa and a fixed temperature of 35°C. Since the NMR spectra at pressures above 8. 0 MPa show that the peak position of an OH proton was in higher magnetic field, the OH proton did not generate the hydrogen bonding among the alcohol molecules. The peak position of OH proton shifted to lower magnetic field below 7. 8 MPa, which supports an increase in the strength of the hydrogen bonding, and the aggregation of alcohol molecules occurs below 7. 8 MPa. From the analysis of a peak position of an OH proton of several alcohols, it was found that the simpler alcohols aggregate more strongly.
