Metal-phthalocyanine composite films (M×H2c) were prepared by simultaneous vacuum evaporation using dual sources for metal: Ni, Cu, Al, Sn, In, or Au. The changes in chemical structure of the H2Pc component in M×H2Pc were analyzed by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and ultraviolet-visible (UV-V) spectroscopy. The H2Pc component in most samples (Cu×H2Pc, Al×H2Pc, Sn×H2Pc, and Au×H2Pc) was damaged by the metal which evaporated simultaneously, though Ni×H2Pc and In×H2Pc samples were not. Only Ni×H2Pc showed a possibility of nickel-phthalocyanine complex (NiPc) formation from the data of both XPS and UV-V spectroscopy, but In×H2Pc showed the same results as H2Pc.
