Abstract
Novel ruthenium-catalyzed polycondensation of 3, 3′ -diaminobenzidine with aliphatic dinitriles has been investigated in detail. A variety of polybenzimidazoles having inherent viscosities between 0.10 and 0.21dl/g could be readily prepared using RuCl2 (PPh3) 3 at 210°C in NMP or DMAc in 24h reaction.
