Abstract
The numerical simulation was carried out to discuss the effect of the ground stiffness and the mechanical factors of the vibratory rollers on their vibrating behavior. The result of the simulation made it clear that the vibrating behavior of the rollers depends not only on the ground stiffness but also the mechanical factors of the rollers. We studied the reason that the behavior of the vibratory rollers changes according to the ground stiffness and suggested a method with which the ground stiffness can be evaluated through the behavior of vibratory roller by removing the effect of the mechanical factors of the rollers on their behavior. The applicability of the method was examined in field experiments.
