Abstract

Pitfall traps have been broadly utilized method in order to sample cursorial arthropods such as ants. However, trapping protocols and/or techniques are vastly different among researchers: attractants or baits, sampling season, trap number, trapping periods, and so on. Which trapping prtocol/technique is the best to collect larger number of species? In this paper, I address the optimum trapping protocol/technique to survey myrmecofauna, that is sensitive and available bio-indicator of environmental change, using the data of postfire myrmecofaunal change.
