This report describes a rare case of double cancer involving oral malignant melanoma and thyroid papillary carcinoma.<BR>A 51-year-old man was referred to our clinic because of malignant melanoma of the palate. Partial maxillectomy and right radical neck dissection were performed. During radical neck dissection, frozen section examination of the lymph nodes showed metastatic occult thyroid papillary carcinoma. After the operation, right hemithyroidectomy and regional lymph node dissection were performed by otolaryngologists.<BR>The patient has had no recurrence of tumor, and his clinical course has been uneventful for 4.5 years.<BR>We also review the literatures and discuss the characteristics of double cancer involving oral neoplasms and thyroid cancer.
