<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>The dynamics of photostimulated volume expansion of a polyacrylamide microgel containing triphenylmethane leucocyanide (TPMCN) in water was studied by simultaneous measurements of the time response of absorbance of triphenylmethyl cation (Abs(t)) and the radius of the gel (R(t)). The time response of the degree of ionic dissociation of TPMCN (α(t)) in the gel was obtained by analyzing Abs(t) and R(t) for the first time. The change in R(t) was shown to be slower than that in α(t).</jats:p>
