抄録

We present a detailed chronology and history of Sannai-Maruyama Village in the Jomon Period. A high-precision radiocarbon dating mainly using the AMS method and a calibration by INTCAL98 were attempted for 90 specimens of mainly charcoals. As a result, the ages of the Sannai-Maruyama Village were established as from 5, 100 to 3, 900yrs BP, and 5, 900 to 4, 300 cal BP. The Sannai-Maruyama Village existed for 1, 600 years. The boundary between the Early and Middle Jomon Period dated back to 5, 400 cal BP. The beginning of the Sannai-Maruyama Village accorded with the age of formation of Castanea trees. It was determined the Castanea trees were planted by the Jomon people.
