抄録

The Solver programs on MS-Excel's worksheets were applied for estimation of the three parameters in von Bertalanffy's growth formula. Non-linear least squares and maximum likelihood method were used to estimate the parameters by using MS-Excel's solver and compared with Walford's method. Age-length data of male Japanese flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus, caught in coastal area of Hyogo Prefecture located the Sea of Japan were used as a sample in the present study. The parameters estimated by MS-Excel's Solver were the same. In Walford's method, the parameters were underestimated in comparison with the other two methods. It is considered that these worksheets are useful to estimate the parameters in von Bertalanffy's growth formula using age-length data by MS-Excel's Solver.
