Abstract

A review of the Marangoni effect and Marangoni instability to drive convection is given on the standpoint of fluid mechanics. The method of theoretical study of the Marangoni convection is explained for the cases of flat and deformable interfaces. A brief summary of analysis of linear and nonlinear surface waves is added.
