Abstract

A mathematical model of SO<SUB>2</SUB> capture by single limestone particle under pressurized fluidized bed combustion conditions was proposed. In the present model, particle attrition was taken into consideration. Effect attrition mode, i.e. continuous attrition or intermittent attrition, on overall reaction rate, overall reaction order with respect to SO<SUB>2</SUB> concentration, and maximum utilization of solid were evaluated. Attrition mode had a great influence on sulfur capture behavior even if the average attrition rate was the same. Attrition mode was found to be very important to make a model of SO<SUB>2</SUB> capture in pressurized fluidized bed
