Abstract

当所保有の標準菌株, および1995年に当所において検出した臨床分離株に対するgatifloxacin (GFLX) の抗菌スペクトルと抗菌活性を検討することを目的に, 対照薬剤を加えた最小発育阻止濃度 (MIC) を測定して, 以下の結果を得た。<BR>1. <I>Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes</I> を含む<I>streptococcus</I> spp., <I>Peptostreptococcus</I> spp.に対するGFLXの抗菌活性は, tosufloxacin (TFLX) と同等もしくはやや勝り, levofloxacin (LVFX), およびciprofloxacin (CPFX) に勝っていた。<BR>2.<I>Bacteroides fragilis</I> group, <I>Prevotella</I> spp.に対するGFLXの抗菌活性は, TFLX, LVFX, CPFXのいずれに対しても明らかに勝っていた。<BR>3.<I>Staphylococcus</I> spp., <I>Enterococcus</I> spp., quinolones-resistant Enterobacteriaceaeを対象とした結果からは, 既存のフルオロキノロン耐性菌にGFLXが強いことが示唆された。<BR>4.<I>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</I> に対するGFLXの抗菌活性は既存のフルオロキノロンとほぼ同等であるが, 他のglucose-nonfermentative gram-negative rodsに対するGFLXの強い抗菌活性を確認した。

In order to evaluate the antibacterial spectrum and antimicrobial activity of gatifloxacin (GFLX), minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of GFLX and control drugs were determined against standard strains and clinical isolates that were obtained by our laboratory in 1995.<BR>Results are summarized as follows:<BR>1.Antimicrobial activity of GFLX against <I>Streptococcus</I> spp.(including <I>Streptococcus pneumoniae</I> and <I>Streptococcus pyogenes</I>) and <I>Peptostreptococcus</I> spp.was equal to or stronger than that of tosufloxacin (TFLX), and was stronger than that of levofloxacin (LVFX) and ciprofloxacin (CPFX).<BR>2.Antimicrobial activity of GFLX against the <I>Bacteroides fragilis</I> group and <I>Prevotella</I> spp.was clearly stronger than that of TFLX, LVFX and CPFX.<BR>3.The results of antimicrobial activity against <I>Staphylococcus</I> spp., <I>Enterococcus</I> spp.and quinolonesresistant Enterobacteriaceae suggest that GFLX shows strong antimicrobial activity against fluoroquinolone-resistant strains.<BR>4.Antimicrobial activity of GFLX against <I>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</I> was approximately equal to that of other fluoroquinolones, and its antimicrobial activity against other glucose-nonfermentative Gram-negative rods was strong.
