Abstract

Mediastinal lymph node involvement is uncommon in intrathoracic tuberculosis. We report three cases of this disease, each of which had a different clinical course. Chest CT scans showed preferntial involvement of right paratracheal nodes, central areas of relatively low density with peripheral rim enhancement after injection of contrast medium. Specimens obtained by mediastinoscopy and fiberoptic bronchoscopy revealed acid-fast bacilli in all cases.<br>In view of its relative frequency, tuberculous mediastinal lymphadenitis in adults must be distinguished from other causes of mediastinal masses.
