Abstract

Leaching of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer from commercially-available temporary resins (five chemically-cured materials and a light-cured material) was determined by means of highperformance liquid chromatography analysis. Leaching of MMA monomer after being immersion in distilled water was dependent on the type of the materials. The amounts of leached monomer were higher on the first day and gradually decreased for one week. After one week of immersion in distilled water, the leaching of MMA monomer continued at a lower concentration level till up to 6 weeks. For light-cured temporary resin, prolonged exposure duration significantly reduced the amount of leached MMA monomer.
