Abstract

There is increased awareness that infection with<I>Helicobacter pylori</I>(H.<I>pylon</I>) could be a causative agent of gastric diseases. The sources of H.<I>pylon</I>infection and the transmission routes are still unconfirmed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of H.<I>pylon</I>in denture plaque. Denture plaque was obtained from the fitting surfaces of dentures from 31 elderly inpatients. H.<I>pylon</I>was detected by using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was designed to amplify the H.<I>pylon</I>genes encoding 16SrRNA and Urease A. Two patients were PCR positive for H.<I>pylon</I>in denture plaque.
