A case of type II syndrome with five cancers of the large intestine is reported. The patient was a 45-year-old man. He had a history of cancer of the left ureter, and the familly history revealed that his mother had colorectal cancer. A thorough examination for anemia resulted in detection of a type I rectal cancer in the lower rectum and a type II aicumferential cancer in the rectosigmoid region. Since the proximal side was obstructed due to the lesion in the rectosigmoid, we could not explore the entire large intestine. At laparotomy, another cancer was found, in the sigmoid colon, and two cancers in the transverse colon. Resection of the large intestine from the anus to transverse colon and colostomy of the ascending colon were performed. Histopathologically all five cancers were in the advanced stage. Based on these findings, a diagnosis of type II Lynch syndrome was made.
