抄録

Giant cell carcinoma of the lung demonstrates an extremely aggressive clinical course and carries a very poor prognosis.<br> In a case of pulmonary giant cell carcinoma originated from the left upper lobe in a 45-year-old male who was admitted to the hospital because of fever, weight loss, and cough, left upper lobectomy and chest wall resection were carried out. The patient had an additinal resection for local recurrence one month after the initial operation. Reconstruction for the chest wall defect was performed with Marlex mesh. The patient did not recieve postoperative chemotherapy, however, he is alive and well without any reccurence 4 years after the second operation.<br> This case described here, to our knowledge, is a rare example of long survival case of pulmonary giant cell carcinoma.
