抄録

Bronchogenic cyst in the retroperitoneum is rare and only 5 cases including this case have been reported in Japan.<br> A 56-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of an epigastric dull pain. Abdominal computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasonography showed a retroperitoneal cystic tumor but the original organ was not defined. Extirpation of the tumor was performed. The extirpated tumor was 10×7.5×3.5 cm in size and contained about 160 ml of viscous and grayish white fluid. Histologically, ciliated columnar epithelia with the seromucous glands and cartilage were observed. The definite diagnosis of bronchogenic cyst was made. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patient has been in good health without any signs of recurrence, as of 1 year after the operation.
