Abstract

We experienced a case of linea alba hernia which is relatively rare in Japan. A 69-year-old femal was admitted to the hospital because of an epigastric mass and pain. On physical examination a fist-sized soft mass in the upper abdomen was palpated. The reduction of the mass was possible. A Diagnosis of linea alba hernia was made, and an operation was performed. The hernia involved a portion of the small intestine. Hernia orifice sized 2 cm at the linea alba was closed. The postoperative course was uneventful. There has been no sign of recurrence up to now.
