抄録

A 37-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of a perianal mass. The mass was in the left-lower lesion of the coccyx. Darkgreen fluid was obtained by puncture. Ultrasonography, CT scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated a monocystic mass with incomplete septums in the presacral space. It was 12×7×6cm in size. The mass was extirpated with transsacral approach. The mass had smooth surface and was filled with darkgreen fluid. Macroscopically no tumorous lesion was seen in the wall. Histological examination of the resected specimen revealed that the wall was composed of fibrous tissue and most of the epithelium was removed but partially hairy-columnar epithelium was seen. No muscle layer nor serosa was detected and we diagnosed the cyst as tailgut cyst. Tailgut cyst is extremely rare. This rare disease in an adult man is presented here.
