Abstract

We experienced a case of malignant pheochromocytoma performed two times of resections for hematogenous metastatic lesions.<br> A 41-year-old woman underwent a left adrenalectomy for a pheochromocytoma which was likely benign. Ten months after the operation, a metastasis to the first lumbar vertebra was found out and a laminectomy was performed. However, another metastasis in the caudate lobe of the liver was diagnosed and the third operation was performed one year and seven months after the left adrenalectomy. The patient died of multiple bone and liver metastase two years and three months after the initial operation.
