Abstract

Tono Geoscience Center (TGC) has been developing the GEOMASS system since 1997 in order to evaluate the groundwater flow at depth in a rock mass. The system provides an integrated simulation system environment for both model development and performance of groundwater flow simulations. The integrated simulation system allows users an efficient use of resources. The system allows users to make rapid improvement of their models with as data increases. Also, it is possible to perform more realistic groundwater flow simulations due to the capability of modeling the rock mass as a continuum with discrete hydro-structural features in the rock.<BR>TGC tested the operation and usefulness of the GEOMASS system by applying to groundwater flow simulations in the Tono area, Gifu Prefecture.<BR>TGC intends to continue the study in the Tono area and revise the model as data increases.
