We conducted a boring investigation on the route of an electric power transmission line from Shukuya to Hongoh, Hakui City, in the southern part of the Ohchi Plain, Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture, Central Japan. We found that the Quaternary formation consisted of several beds which we named bed VI-I in the upward direction. Beds V-I can be corresponded to oxygen isotopic stages 6-1 based on sedimentary facies, paleoclimate estimated from pollen analysis, tephrochronology, and radiocarbon dating. Beds V-I corresponded to MIS6-5e, 5d-5b, 5b-5.0, 4-2, and 2-1 respectively. We examined whether the relative subsidence of the Ohchi Plain against the Bijoh Mountains and the Sekidoh-Hohdatsu Mountains has continued without interruption during the time these beds were deposited. We concluded that the relative subsidence of the Ohchi Plain against the Bijoh Mountains may have been terminated between the time of bed V sedimentation and the time of bed IV sedimentation. Concerning the relative subsidence of the Ohchi Plain against the Sekidoh-Hohdatsu Mountains, no evidence of subsidence can be recognized since the time of bed IV sedimentation, at least in our data.
