Completely resected quadruple cancer involving hepatocellular carcinoma is rare. A 66-year-old man with chronic hepatitis type C was operated on for gastric and colonic cancers at the age of 63. About 3 years after the first operation, an abnormal shadow in the liver was seen on an abdominal ultrasound sonography. Second operation, comprised of a partial hepatectomy and a right hemicolectomy, was performed for hepatocellular carcinoma and colon cancer. Histological findings of these four cancers were as follows: 1) gastric cancer: signet ring cell carcinoma>poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, 2) transverse colon cancer: well differentiated adenocarcinoma, 3) hepatocellular carcinoma: moderately differentiated hepatocellular carcinoma, and 4) ascending colon cancer: moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. The patient was died of recurrence of the colon cancer on Octorber, 2001.
