Abstract

This paper presents the investigation on the occurrence domain of three phase simultaneous interruption in breaking low capacitive currents using a vacuum switch in a cable circuit. The influences on the domain of the cable length, load currents, chopping currents, insulation voltages of the gap, opening time of the contacts and the arc time were investigated by numerical analysis. The high frequency arc characteristics of the vacuum switches were represented by modified Mayr equations.
