抄録

A system consisting of a CCD camera, image processor, light source, video recorder and micro-computer was developed for the measurement of the behavior of insects. This system enabled to collect information such as rate, direction and locus of silkworm movement in real time. This system was also devised to project the collected data on the CRT display. Collected data could be saved as a data file for subsequent analysis of the characteristics of the behavior. A device was made to extract the movement at the center of gravity of an insect. Also a specific position of an insect (the head of a silkworm larva in this experiment) could be extracted using an insect colored with orange fluorescent paint at the position, illuminated with fluorescent light and observed through a 600nm optical interference filter. This produced accuracy of measurement without interference due to the background.
