- Microscopic detection of calcium deposited in idioblasts of mulberry leaves.

抄録
The adaxial surface of mulberry leaves was surveyed to examine patterns of calcium (Ca) deposition in idioblasts. Histochemical observation showed that the degree of Ca deposition was positively correlated with leaf age. Ca deposition started from the “cap” portion situated in the center of the idioblasts, followed to form a mass of Ca crystal which occupied the entire space of the vacuole. This process was traced by scanning X-ray analytical microscopy. The X-ray mapping images supported the specific deposition of Ca in idioblasts. In addition, the presence of silica (Si) in idioblasts was demonstrated by X-ray point analysis.
