We report an operated case of colon cancer presented with gastric abscess, a rare pathologic condition. A 66-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of back pain and epigastric pain. Blood laboratory data revealed high levels of the white blood cell count and CRP. Gastroduodenoscopy revealed an elevated lesion with redness like a submucosal tumor at the posterior wall in the body of the stomach, and pus was drained from the lesion. From a culture of the pus Haemophilus parainfluenzae was isolated. Antibiotics were administered with a diagnosis of abscess of the gastric wall, which resulted in disappearance of symptoms and improvement of inflammatory findings. However, further examination revealed cancer of the transverse colon with invasion to the stomach. Left colectomy combined with a partial resection of stomach was performed.<br>Pathohistological examination revealed well differentiated adenocarcinoma with abscess formation under subserosal layer of the stomach. A total of 36 cases of gastric abscess have been reported in our country. This case of gastric abscess due to colon cancer is the third in Japan.
