Adenoid cystic carcinoma of the breast is an extremely rare entity and so far 71 cases have been reported in Japanese literature as far as we could review. This time we experienced a case of adenoid cystic carcinoma of the breast.<br>A 62-year-old woman was seen at the hospital because she felt a right breast tumor on September 9, 2001. On palpation, a well-movable and hard tumor with the diameter of 1cm was feld in the C area of the right breast. Mammography resulted in category III. Echography showed a flat and demarcated tumor with homogeneous internal echo. Cytodiagnosis was class IIIb. Since the removed tumor was diagnosed as adenoid cystic carcinoma of the breast, a breast-preserving operation with axillary lymph node dissection was performed. No recurrence has occurred up to now.
