Abstract

A 36-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of melena and severe anemia (Hct 24.2%). No focus of melena could be detected by emergency gastroendoscopy, colonoscopy, 99mTc-HSA-D scintigraphy, 99mTc pertechenetate scintigraphy, CT, angiography and intestinal fluoroscopy. Laparotomy was made for the diagnosis. During surgery, an invaginated Meckel's diverticulum locating 100cm from the ileum end which led to intussusception (ileum-ileum-ileum) of the ileum was identified. In a top of the Meckel's diverticulum, a tumor was identified. Resection of the Meckel's diverticulum was performed. Historogically the tumor was inflammatory polyp. Here we present this rare case of intussusception of the ileum caused by Meckel's diverticulum with a bleeding polyp, together with a review of the literature.
