Abstract
External fixation with 3 half pins inserted into the ilium and the major trochanter was applied for two cases of obsolete and habitual and two other cases of fresh coxofemoral luxation in dogs. The fixation was removed 14-16 days after the fixation, when all the dogs could walk and run almost normally. After the removing the fixation, no recurrence was observed in all the cases with normal coxofemoral function. These results suggest this method is quite suitable especially for the treatment of obsolete and habitual coxofemoral luxation in dogs.
