抄録

Six tephra layers in the Lower Pleistocene marine sediments between the southernmost part of the Boso Peninsula and the central part of the peninsula, central Japan, are correlated in terms of petrographic and petrologic analyses: the Ny7, Ny4J, Ny4B, Ny3D, Ny3B, and Ny3A key tephra layers in the Kamo Formation of the Toyofusa Group can be correlated with the O7, U8, U7, U6D, U6B, and U6A key tephra layers in the Kazusa Group, respectively. Tephrostratigraphic data strongly suggest that the Kamo Formation can be correlated with the upper part of the Otadai Formation to the Umegase Formation of the Kazusa Group, and the normal polarity interval in the lower part of the Kamo Formation correlates with the Jaramillo Subchronozone of Matuyama Chronozone.
