抄録

A 47-year-old woman suffering from eosinophilic gastroenteritis and perforation of the small intestine had previously experienced episodes of ascites that resolved spontaneously. Perforation of the small intestine occurred during medical examination without a definite causative factor. After surgery she was seriously ill, but recovered with corticosteroid treatment and her eosinophilia improved. She is still making good progress with corticosteroid therapy. Eosinophilic gastroenteritis associated with perforation of the small intestine is rare, but illness after perforation tends to be serious. If some abdominal symptoms and peripheral eosinophilia are noted, it is necessary to keep eosinophilic gastroenteritis in mind.
