抄録

A 77-year-old-woman, who underwent partial resection of the small intestine and stricturoplasty for ileus due to an annular ulcer in enteric tuberculosis and was admitted for ileus recurrence on May 1, 2003, was found to have dilation of the intestine and niveau in plain abdominal X-ray and abdominal computed tomography. An ileus tube inserted on the same day did not effect decompression. Since decreased numbers of leukocytes and blood platelets and peritonitis signs were marked, sepsis due to strangulated ileus was suspected. Emergency ileocecal resection was done on May 2. Laparotomy findings did not indicate strangulated ileus, but a piece of press-through packaging (PTP) was found in the expanding intestinal tract between the strictures of an excision specimen. We definitively diagnosed her as having ileus caused by mistakenly swallowed PTP associated with intestinal strictures due to enteric tuberculosis.
