Abstract

長良川河口堰の運用後における河床への底泥堆積と底生動物の変化について,建設省・水資源開発公団のモニタリング調査データを中心に分析し,河口堰運用との因果関係を考察した.その結果,河口堰建設・運用により,堰の下流部1km以上におよぶ大規模な底泥(有機物を多量に含み,シルト・粘土含有率の高い還元化された黒色軟泥)の堆積が起きたことが明らかになった.このような底泥は,河口堰下流部にあっては,堰運用によって強化された高塩分水や貧酸素水の発生頻度の増加および発生期間の長期化と共に,ヤマトシジミ類の生息に深刻な影響を与えたと考えられる。さらに,揖斐川・木曽川においても,堰運用後ヤマトシジミ類の稚貝密度が低下したことを示唆する結果が得られた.ヤマトシジミ類の持続的な資源利用を行うために,詳細な調査検討が必要であると考えられる.

The effects of the Nagara Rivermouth Barrage on the river-bed sediment conditions and bivalves, especially on the Corbicula japonica group (mostly C japonica probably with contamination of introduced C fluminea), were examined using the data mainly obtained by the Japan Ministry of Construction and the Water Resources Development Public Corporation. The result revealed the following facts : 1) Operation of the Nagara Rivermouth Barrage caused massive sedimentation with the maximum depth of ca. 4 m in the lower reaches of the barrage over 1 km in length and across the entire width of the river. 2) The bottom sediment consisted mainly of silt-clay containing a large amount of organic matter, and its oxidation-reduction potential remained negative throughout the study period. 3) Bivalves of the Corbicula japonica group rapidly decreased in density in the lower reaches of the barrage after its operation. Young Corbicula japonica decreased not only in the Nagara River but also in the Ibi R. and Kiso R.
