Abstract

A partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection was observed in a 98-day-old female Holstein-Japanese Black crossbred calf. The caudal-lobe pulmonary veins of the left lung united to form a common venous trunk at the lung hilus. The common trunk was anomalously connected to the left azygos vein by way of the coronary sinus. The cranial-lobe pulmonary vein and right pulmonary veins were connected to the left atrium in the usual manner. Pronounced dilations were noted in the right atrium and ventricle and mild dilation in the pulmonary trunk. The only thing on the atrial septum was a large patent foramen ovale without associated atrial septal defects.
