抄録

Water intake and water requirement rate of a non-tilled and a tilled paddy field consisting of marshy heavy clay soil in Hachiro-gata Polder were investigated in the first year by the non-tilled farming.<BR>The results of the investigation are summarized as follows:<BR>1) Padding water requirement of the tilled paddy field was about 70mm. And this value corresponds to that of an ill-drained paddy field. On the other hand, the initial water quantity, which is defined as water quantity supplied until the transplantation as for the non-tilled paddy field, in creased 2.1 times in comparison with the water intake of the tilled paddy field.<BR>2) The total water intake of the non-tilled paddy field was 1.8 times as much as that of the tilled paddy field during the period of irrigation. It is considered that this is due to a difference in percolation of those paddy fields. As for intake system, both the non-tilled and the tilled paddy field were intermittent, but the intake of the non-tilled paddy field was performed frequently in comparison with that of tilled paddy field.<BR>3) Water requirement rate of the non-tilled and the tilled paddy field were 13.0mm/d and 4.8 mm/d respectively during the ponding irrigation period. And, it was found that, percolation of the non-tilled paddy field was larger than that of the tilled paddy field.
