In this study, we demonstrate the use of surface plasmon interaction between Au nanoparticles (GPs) and a Au thin film for enhancement of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectroscopy sensing for DNA hybridization. In situ DNA hybridization with a Au-nanoparticle-attached probe DNA (DNA-GP) monolayer is monitored by SPR spectroscopy, and the results reveal that the DNA-GP allows detection of unlabeled target DNA with the large dynamic range of 1 pM to 10 μM.
