Abstract

Through analysis of the RDF power generation business, which has been operating since FY 2003 in Northern Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan, this study assesses RDF power generation availability from the viewpoints of cost savings, energy, and reduction of environmental impacts.
Results of detailed investigations of each process in terms of Life Cycle Analysis demonstrated that the introduction of RDF power generation presents three advantages of reducing energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and transportation costs.
The main results obtained through this study are that : (1) the introduction of power generation is effective ; (2) the RDF system uses an advantageous transportation process ; (3) the RDF system is useful for CO2 reduction.
