抄録

The State of California has a breast cancer early detection program for underserved California residents since 1991, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the state's cigarette taxes. As of 2003, a total of 178, 000 women has received free breast cancer screening. In this paper, the California's program is briefly described, about its eligibility criteria, organizational structure, funding sources and expenditures, and the trends in the percent of women who receive mammogram and the breast cancer mortality rate.
