Abstract

The purpose of this article is to propose a weighting adjustment of the Person-Trip (PT) Survey data by using simulated annealing (SA). The accuracies and effectiveness of SA are discussed by comparison with a cell weighting. Major findings are that 1) SA is able to adjust the PT Survey data to the same constrained table of a cell weighting at the 1% difference. In addition, 2) the weighted data also agree with the second constrained table on workplace which has not been incorporated in a cell weighting. Besides, 3) the weighted data fit reasonably well to unconstrained tables on occupation and driver's license. The further analysis reveals that relationships between constrained and unconstrained tables determine the accuracies for unconstrained tables. These findings support that SA is a highly effective approach for a weighting adjustment of the PT Survey data.
