Abstract

Forty of 112 (35.7%) dogs in families and 28 of 35 (80.0%) dogs in the university animal center were found to be positive for agglutination antibody to Bordetella bronchiseptica, showing titers of 1: 10 to 1: 160 and average titers of 1: 42.1 in the family cases and 1: 72.5 in the animal center cases. In the family cases, 11.1% of those yonger than 1 year of age were antibody positive as well as 55.0% of those older than 10 years of age. Antibody positivities of dogs suffering from respiratory disease and those free from, were 44.2% and 28.3%, respectively.
