Abstract

Intrahepatic bile ducts were histopathologically studied, in 6- to 18-month-old minks, with clinically diagnosed Aleutian disease (AD), (10 cases: 9 of Aleutian line and 1 of non-Aleutian line) as compared to one case without disease. The liver of AD-affected cases showed proliferation of bile ductules and plasma cells. Histopathologically, the proliferated epithelial cells were similar to those of normal bile ductules and positive for cytokeratin 18. Ultrastructurally, however, the tubular structure was markedly deformed with poorly differentiated lumen and the epithelium was positive for carcinoembryonic antigen.
