Abstract

This paper introduces a case study on approaches being used with regard to food recycling at the Odakyu Food Ecology Center, which was established by the Odakyu Group. Points discussed include contents of the food waste being disposed of, general trends, and the control of waste generation. Data collection to measure daily food waste and its analysis was found to be an important issue, along with the development of methods for raising awareness of the importance of food recycling and also keeping track of the amounts of waste being generated. Setting up guidance programs to enlighten and teach the employees at every level is seen to be critical.
