Abstract

Colorectal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALT lymphoma) is a rare entity. Standard therapies for this entity have not been established. While surgical treatments have often been selected, only four cases of laparoscopy-assisted resection have been reported. We present the fifth report of laparoscopy-assisted resection for MALT lymphoma of the colon. A 64-year-old man had a positive fecal occult blood test. Endoscopic examination revealed a submucosal tumor-like lesion in the transverse colon. By histologic examination of biopsy specimens, the tumor was suspected of MALT lymphoma. The patient underwent laparoscopy-assisted partial resection of the transverse colon. There have been no signs of reccurence for 15 months.<br>
