Abstract

Possible applications of magnetic processing of feeble magnetic materials to science and technology areas of functionalization of papers and printing are reported. Magnetic effects including magnetic alignment and magnetic patterning show up clearly even for feeble magnetic materials in some cases if strong magnetic fields are used. Furthermore, if appropriated processing conditions are set, field strengths provided by permanent magnets could work to align and pattern fillers in coating materials and pulp suspension. Some examples of application results as well as basic aspects of the magnetic effects are reported.
